AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) is a lightweight precast concrete made into blocks and steel-reinforced panels. In Australian houses it is mostly used as 50mm or 75mm facade panels screwed to top hats over the frame, then rendered.

Facadia supplies AAC panels from Hebel (CSR), Nasahi, Eastland and Bestari, all 600mm wide, in 50mm and 75mm wall panels and 75mm floor panels. Each brand is a separate system with its own CodeMark certificate, installation guide and matching accessories.

Glossary

AAC
Autoclaved aerated concrete: a lightweight precast concrete made into blocks and steel-reinforced panels. Facadia sells AAC external wall panels in 50mm and 75mm thicknesses and 75mm floor panels, 600mm wide.
Hebel
A brand of AAC products made by CSR Hebel (North Ryde NSW). Facadia supplies Hebel PowerPanel50, PowerPanelXL and PowerFloor, plus Hebel-range accessories.
PowerPanel50
Hebel's 50mm steel-reinforced AAC external wall panel for houses and low-rise external walls, fixed to top hats over the frame. Covered by CodeMark CM40233 Rev 2 and, for high-rise facades, CM40312. Installed to guide HELIT181.
PowerPanelXL
Hebel's 75mm AAC external wall panel. Covered by CodeMark CM40049 Rev 1 (PowerPanelXL, PowerProfile and PowerPattern external walls) and installed to guide HELIT016.
Top hat
A steel batten with a top-hat profile fixed over the wall frame. AAC panels are screwed to the top hats, so they set the cavity and the fixing line. Facadia sells top hats in 4.8m lengths in 24mm and 35mm depths.
CodeMark
A voluntary Australian building product certification scheme. A current certificate shows the product meets the listed NCC/BCA requirements when used as described.
CMI Certification
The JAS-ANZ accredited certifying body that issued the Hebel, Nasahi and Eastland AAC CodeMark certificates Facadia lists. Its public register lets you check whether a certificate is current.
NCC
The National Construction Code, which sets the minimum requirements for building work in Australia, including the BCA. CodeMark certificates state which NCC/BCA requirements a system meets.
Control joint
A planned break in an AAC facade that lets the wall move without cracking. Facadia's inspection checks vertical and horizontal control joints, and top hat breaks at control joints, against the manufacturer's guide.
Hiab
A truck-mounted crane used to unload heavy goods. Facadia quotes crane or Hiab unloading on request as part of freight.
SWMS
Safe Work Method Statement: a document setting out how high-risk construction work will be done safely. In Facadia's builder portal, crew acknowledge the SWMS when they sign on. Each SWMS must be adapted to the site by the PCBU or installer.
Take-off
A list of material quantities measured from building plans. Facadia does AAC take-offs from uploaded plans: panels, top hats, adhesive and screws.
Split pack fee
A single $50.00 ex GST ($55.00 inc GST) charge per line when a panel quantity is not a whole number of packs.
Base sealer
A sealer coat applied to AAC panels before render, sold by Facadia in the Hebel range (5L) and the Eastland range (5L).
Direct fix clip
A clip that fixes battens directly to framing. Facadia lists the Hebel direct fix clip (for 24mm and 35mm top hats) and the Rondo 314 direct fix clip.
Party wall bracket
A bracket used where AAC walls meet a party (shared boundary) wall. Facadia lists the Hebel aluminium party wall bracket.
DPC
Damp proof course: a moisture barrier at the base of a wall. Facadia's inspection checks the DPC at the base, ideally photographed before panels hide it.
BAL
Bushfire Attack Level: the bushfire exposure rating of a site. Whether an AAC facade suits a BAL depends on the full system, so check the certificate and the manufacturer's bushfire guidance.
Ex GST and inc GST
Ex GST is a price before the 10% goods and services tax; inc GST includes it. Facadia shows both on every price.
PCBU
Person conducting a business or undertaking: the work health and safety duty holder. On Facadia's portal, each SWMS must be reviewed and adapted to the site by the PCBU or installer.
